Barrus – Additions
This split-level home was built in the early 80’s and was in desperate need of a makeover, as well as more space. We started by designing and planning a new four-season family room to replace an existing screened in-porch at the back of the house. Removing the porch, we married the new room by adding a window into the heart of the house: the kitchen! The family room has an open floor plan, vaulted ceilings to allow for a fan, and bright colors with lots of windows to finish the inside. Under the family room there is now a new oil tank, an eco-friendly boiler and room for storage. The roof was removed and redone with architectural shingles, to add more character to the home. We completely insulated the existing house with blown in cellulose, and added new insulation in attic. We replaced a garage door and several windows to current energy standards. The final touch was a new, beautiful front entry door and new siding to make the makeover complete. Off the new family room we added a beautiful deck that now allows entertaining both outside and in. Thanks Marcia, Rob and Sammy for putting your home in our hands!
