About the Pantry:

Twenty-Five years ago two members of Millbury Federated Church started its’ food pantry in a shopping cart located in the back of the church for members who were short on food. Fast forward a few years and the church’s Mission team changed the food pantry to a community outreach program, providing food for residents of Millbury and the surrounding communities. We went from being open one morning a week to opening two mornings a week (Monday and Wednesday 9-12). Our pantry is self sufficient and depends on donations from our parishioners and others in the town who see the need and want to help. As the need grew we could no longer provide food to the surrounding communities and three years ago had to limit the pantry to just Millbury residents. In 2009 we lost one of the founders of the food pantry to cancer and renamed tour pantry to the Sandi L Fischer Food pantry to honor her. We’ve gone from helping 10 to 15 people a week to 25 to 30. Last year we had 1,140 visits to our pantry and this year we see about 25 to 30 a week—times are tough and the need is greater than ever.

The 17th annual Coats for Kids has come to a close and all the final numbers have been tallied. Anton’s Cleaners and Coats for Kids team would like to extend a big THANK YOU to all of our collection, distribution, and promotional partners for helping to make the 17th annual Coats for Kids program a great success!

Despite this being the warmest winter in recent history, our collection partners – 476 schools, companies, and community organizations – collected over 56,000 winter coats. We’d like to give a special thanks to our wonderful distribution partners, who were crucial in getting these coats to thousands of well-deserving families in our local community. We are pleased to announce that the 2011-2012 season marked a record-breaking number of collection partners and promotional partners to help spread word and warm the heart of those who needed it most this time of year.

The Builders Association of Central Massachusetts (BACM) is a non-profit trade association with a membership that represents over 250 companies such as builders, carpenters, tradesman, suppliers and other related professions involved in the construction, development and remodeling of single family homes in the 43 towns in central Massachusetts.

To qualify for membership, the applicant must have their references checked and applications scrutinized before being voted into the organization.

The BACM supports its members with educational programs & presentations regarding the building industry, on education regarding legislative matters that affect the homebuilding industry and with monthly networking opportunities.
